Self indulgence in Venice

When I learned about Self Festival in Venice 2015, I knew that my work fits perfectly there.
As an artist I am currently using myself – my thoughts, my body, my surroundings, my passion – for my artwork. Sometimes I feel like my own slave or my own master, driven by relentless emotions.
Besides my painting photography is another way to express myself. Multiple self portraits, taken over many years show proof of my search of innermost truth.

Two years ago, in 2013, I was commissioned an artwork for X-Art Festival. It became the series of 7 photographies titled “The 7 sins – Secrets of a woman”, which I designed and concepted. These 7 pics are part of my show in Venice.
When I had my first ideas for the photos I thought of a woman, who is alone in her private room, in her boudoir.
In her privacy she can be anything, without justification. She can be wild, outrageous, unfaithful, envious, etc. She can be anything that society doesn´t allow, or want, her to be.

When I was accepted at the experimental art show Liquid Rooms I at Self Festival in Venice I went crazy, since I finally had the chance to show my boudoir, The sinner´s boudoir. The private room and intimacy of a woman. In which she shows herself on the photos, brings her clothes, exactly the same as on the photos and brings herself, as part of the room.
She/ me could show pure intimacy.

When the show opened I was always in my room, very often on my bed. I performed in silence, just by presence.
People reacted very strange, before they entered the room. To them it was clear, that it was private. Nor for them, nor for me it was easy, when they entered the room. Very shy people came in to see the exhibition. They found it strange when somebody was watching the from behind. Some talked to me, but rarely. Only two of many approached the bed, my holy grail.

The three days at Palazzo Ca´Zanardi were days of intense self experience. I felt tired and bewildered after exhibiting myself like that.
The door to my boudoir had to be open all the day, so I had to find a way to build a distance to the audience although I was very close at the same time.

Self experience at Self Festival, what more can an artist wish for.
